Studying abroad is a dream for many international students. If you are considering studying abroad then you have certainly thought about living as well as studying there for at least 3 to 4 years. That’s essential to complete a bachelor degree.
Here, we will tell you why you should choose Germany when you decide to study abroad, why Indian students these days prefer to study in Germany and Germany’s skilled immigration act.
Why Do Indian Students Choose Germany for Higher Studies?
Besides other benefits, like far out infrastructure, global recognition, international exposure, diverse and international degree programs, Germany is chosen by the Indian students for high academic and living standards with NO tuition fees. Sounding odd? Oh no, we are telling you the truth. You must have or must have not known that students in Germany pay little or NO tuition fees. German students, along with international students, at the most public universities in this country only are to pay a small semester social fee, which is often called SEMESTERBEITRAG. It is no more than $440 per semester. This small fee will give you access to University libraries, sports clubs and public transportation.
German federal government supports free as well as accessible education for all students, thus making the university education in Germany affordable for German and international students, whilst maintaining the high academic standard. The next best thing is – living in Germany is not very expensive. A health insurance for students can cost around $150 to $160 per month and the student accommodation starts at around $500 to $700 per month.
There are also many different funding and scholarship opportunities available for Indian and international students.
Germany’s Skilled Immigration Act
The German cabinet has approved a new legislative proposal on Germany’s skilled immigration act, keeping in mind to help attract skilled labour from all around the world.
Like many other countries in Europe, Germany is one of the counties that is facing a shortage of skilled workforce. The number of vacant jobs in Germany reached around 1.95 million in the last quarter of 2022. It is the highest level ever recorded. Also, the shortage of labourers has forced Berlin to reassess its existing immigration policies and to establish a plan to fill the gaps with skilled workforce from all over the world.
The new bill is a significant part of comprehensive reforms that the ruling coalition says would be able to modernise Germany’s immigration, citizenship laws and residency. Germany’s existing skilled labour immigration laws were established in the month of March, 2020, in the form of SKILLED IMMIGRATION ACT.
Whether the immigration act approved by the government, the reforms will offer foreign workers 3 pathways to enter Germany:
The 1st requirement is a professional qualification or university degree, either bachelor or master recognized in Germany and in employment contact.
The 2nd requirement is a minimum of 2 year work experience in a relevant domain and a degree or vocational training.
The 3rd requirement is a new opportunity card for individuals who don’t have a job offer but have the skill and experience or the potential to find work in Germany.
The best of all is – the opportunity card will follow a points-based system that considers the individual’s skills, qualifications, German language skills, experience, age and ties to Germany.
Qualified job seekers with bachelor, master or vocational degree or equivalent certificates will be permitted to stay in Germany for 1 year. They can search for employment, whilst looking for full time employment, they can even allowed to work up to 20-hour per week. So what are you waiting for? If you are planning to study abroad, choose no other then Germany! The skilled immigration act is a boon to students wanting to study and work there for a few years.
